Start Planning A Different North/South Route
Reconstruction of Front Street is beginning. The project will be completed in two phases with the first from Queen Street to Colborne happening this year and the balance from Colborne to Laclie and Neywash Streets in 2020. Because one block of Matchedash is closed until August, and Peter Street ends at King, the best way around is by West Street with Queen or James Streets the connector to Front or Atherley Road.
John Bravakis Enterprises Ltd. was awarded the tender of $6.5 million for Phase 1. Phase 2 is estimated to be $4 million. The reconstruction includes full reconstruction of the road, new storm water and sanitary sewers to replace the Centennial Drive infrastructure, and sidewalks. A minimum of one lane will remain open throughout the construction and all businesses in the area will be open.
