Many people experienced electrical outages last week, some many times, and the gremlins struck twice at the Orillia Youth Centre fundraising concert at Creative Nomad Studios.

I sat next to a pianist for this concert who is no slouch whatsoever at the keyboard and he was as gob smacked as I was with what we just witnessed.

Kevin said their fundraising efforts of the past year have been fantastic. Just with concerts this year $16K has been raised. Their Smile Cookie Campaign at Orillia Tim Horton’s raised $97K.

It seems to me a higher percentage of Native people turn to artistic expression whether it be through music, visual expression, or writing and I think it would be good for the rest of us to pay more attention to the stories they are telling.
