Orillia Terry Fox Run Fundraising Milestone In Reach

Forty-four years ago Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope for cancer research graced Orillia’s Aqua Theatre in front of hundreds of local residents and visitors. Hopefully this year’s edition of the Orillia Terry Fox Run will surpass a $1 million milestone with online fundraising in advance and on run day, Sunday, September 15.

The 2023 Orillia Terry Fox Run generated $51,660.20 for cancer research with 317 run day participants and volunteers, which brought the cumulative total to $956,583.84 by the time the Terry Fox Foundation’s books were closed.

Starting and finishing a 3.2 km loop at the Celebration Plaza in Tudhope Park, the goal for the 2024 Orillia Terry Fox Run remains one dollar per Orillia resident, which has been surpassed for 15 consecutive years. Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m., opening ceremonies and warm-up start at 12:40 p.m. and the Run starts at 1:00 p.m.

Everyone can register online in advance to begin raising or donating funds. People can also follow our social media links using the hashtags #TerryFoxOrillia and #NoMatterWhat when posting about the 2024 event in Orillia.

Terry Fox Runs will also be held Sunday, September 15th in Barrie, Huntsville, Heart of Georgian Bay (Midland area), Sugarbush (Oro-Medonte), Lagoon City-Brechin, Beaverton and across Canada.
