New Deadline To Get A Free Tree

The deadline to order trees at Sustainable Orillia’s third annual community tree giveaway has been extended to September 22, Orillia area residents can pick up free native trees and shrubs (one per household).
Trees will be picked up on Saturday, September 26, 2026 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at Tudhope Park in the parking lot past the curling rink.
Trees are still available for order while supplies last. An additional tree can be ordered with a $10 donation to the event.
The give-away is being held in connection with National Tree Day in Canada, celebrated on September 23. As the City of Orillia moves forward with major tree replanting efforts, Orillia area residents also have the opportunity to contribute to the local tree canopy. Fall is the best time for trees to be planted. The new deadline to order trees is Sept. 22.
Only native plants will be available. They are adapted to local growing conditions and provide important habitat and food for local birds, insects and other wildlife. Native plant berries are edible for local wildlife. (Not all trees and plants are so welcoming.)
