New Official Plan Open House

Press Release

The City of Orillia has released the second draft of its new Official Plan and is inviting residents to give feedback at a statutory public open house on May 7.

The Official Plan is a long-term policy document that guides land-use planning decisions in the City. Orillia’s Official Plan is expected to be adopted by Council before fall 2026 and will then be submitted to the Province for approval.

The purpose of the statutory public open house is to gather feedback on the second draft. Key themes of the Official Plan Review include growth management and land use, housing, climate action, transportation, infrastructure, community services, and protecting the natural areas.

The open house is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Orillia Waterfront Centre. There is no need to register and there will be no formal presentation. The Official Plan Review is a multi-year planning process with four distinct stages. The City is now entering the fourth and final stage of this process.
