Nominations for the following offices will be accepted by the City Clerk:

City Council:

  • Mayor One (1) to be elected at large
  • Councillors Eight (8) to be elected; two (2) in each of the four (4) wards

School Boards:

  • Trustee, Simcoe County District School Board (English-Public)
  • Trustee, Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (English-Separate)
  • Membre, Conseil scolaire Viamonde (French-Public)
  • Membre, Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir (French-Separate)

Nominations may be filed in the office of the City Clerk, on the prescribed forms and accompanied by the prescribed filing fee of $200 for the Head of Council and $100 for all other offices. The filing fee is payable by cash, debit, certified cheque or money order made payable to the City of Orillia.

Nominations for City Council candidates must be accompanied by an Endorsement of Nomination signed by 25 eligible voters supporting the nomination. The individuals providing signatures must be eligible to vote in the municipality on the day they signed the endorsement.

Candidate information packages, including all prescribed forms, will be available no later than April 30, 2026 at: Orillia City Centre Customer Service and online.

Nomination papers must be signed by the candidate, and the complete package may be filed in person or by an agent during regular business hours from May 1, 2026 and August 20, 2026, and between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM on Friday, August 21, 2026 (Nomination Day). No person who proposes to be a candidate may solicit or accept contributions for election purposes, or incur expenses, until that person has filed a nomination paper.
