Chamber Opens Door to Business After 5 and Mayor’s Breakfast

Press Release

The Orillia and District Chamber of Commerce will hold two events that are open to the entire local business community. Orillia and area business owners, professionals, and entrepreneurs, as well as retired or aspiring business owners, and representatives of local organizations, are encouraged to attend.

On March 20, the ODCC is partnering with Fuel Innovation to offer a special Business After Five (BA5) event at Lakehead University. BA5s are business networking events that are typically open to ODCC members only, but in this case, anyone who is interested in making connections within the business community and learning about the supports offered by Fuel Innovation is invited to attend. Fuel Innovation is an innovation collective managed by the City of Orillia that provides services to help local entrepreneurs grow their businesses.

The BA5 will feature networking time, light refreshments, and opportunities to connect with representatives of the ODCC and Fuel Innovation. It will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lakehead University in Orillia. There is no cost to attend but registration is required.

On Thursday, March 21, the Orillia Mayor’s Breakfast, hosted by the ODCC and sponsored by Agilec, will take place at the Best Western PLUS Mariposa Inn and Conference Centre. The Mayor’s Breakfast is an annual event that provides local business owners with an opportunity to hear a business-focused update from City Hall. Attendees also have the chance to enjoy a buffet breakfast while networking with fellow business owners and professionals, as well as representatives of the ODCC, local municipalities, and various community partner organizations.

The event will begin with a meet-and-greet and breakfast followed by a presentation by City of Orillia Mayor Don McIsaac. After the presentation, there will be time set aside for attendees to ask questions or raise concerns. Questions and concerns will be limited to business-related issues, and to the time available.

The Orillia Mayor’s Breakfast begins at 8 a.m. and will run until approximately 10:30 a.m. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Each ticket includes a full buffet breakfast with coffee or tea, and funds raised through the event help support the ODCC’s local business advocacy work.
