New Executive Director At Green Haven

Press Release

Green Haven Shelter for Women announces the appointment of Linda Reid as the organization’s new executive director, effective December 11. Reid brings over 15 years of exceptional leadership in the nonprofit sector, coupled with a profound commitment to advancing the mission of supporting survivors of gender-based violence and empowering self-identifying women in need.

Reid’s extensive background in senior leadership roles in the non-profit sector has honed her expertise in driving transformative change. Reid’s success with securing funding through successful grant applications and fundraising initiatives brings optimism to the organization at this time. Obtaining funding has been vital for the shelter, especially amidst and following the COVID-19 pandemic, given the rising need for services and assistance for those fleeing violence and abuse.

Reid’s commitment to social change aligns seamlessly with Green Haven’s mission, ensuring a continuity of purpose and unwavering dedication to women and children in the community.

With a remarkable history of public speaking engagements at various community events, fundraisers, and outreach initiatives, Linda Reid also brings a powerful voice to advocate for survivors and victims of violence. Her leadership in Dress for Success Orillia and Barrie, where she successfully supported over 3,000 women in Simcoe County, speaks volumes about her dedication to serving women within the community.

Reid’s personal journey as a survivor of gender-based violence deeply connects her to the core mission of Green Haven. Furthermore, Reid emphasizes the importance of community involvement in addressing violence. Her leadership will strengthen the organization’s mission to provide safety, shelter, and opportunities for change to survivors of gender-based violence.
