Time To Vote

Advance voting for the upcoming municipal election starts Saturday October 8. Eligible voters include those who are:

  • a Canadian citizen
  • at least 18 years of age
  • an owner or tenant of land in the City of Orillia, or a spouse of an owner, or tenant of land in the City of Orillia
  • not prohibited from voting under any law.

Advance voting days, locations and times are:

1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Election day is October 24 and polling locations are:

Ward 1 Masonic Building. 24 James St. E.
Ward 2 Orillia Recreation Centre, 255 West St. S.
Ward 3 Rotary Place, 100 University Ave.
Ward 4 Patrick Fogarty Catholic Secondary School, 15 Commerce Rd.

Voter notification cards were mailed in late September and you should bring that with you to your polling station. If you haven’t received one, you can check you are registered online, or bring suitable ID with you. There is a long list of acceptable IDs with the most common being an Ontario driver’s licence, Ontario health card (photo card), An Ontario photo card.

Ward boundaries have changed since the last election and the map below shows the new boundaries.

School Boards

School board trustees are also elected at municipal election time. There are four boards involved. Voters can only elect a candidate according to which board they have declared taxation support for. This information is included on your voter card, or by checking your registration online at the link above.  The boards and candidates are:

On voting day Orillia Transit is free to use from the downtown terminal on routes passing polling stations. Those using the Orillia Wheelchair Limousine Service during advanced vote dates and on election day should book early to avoid availability issues. Reservations may be made by calling 705-327-0411 between Monday and Friday from 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.  Accessible ballot marking devices are available at all polls for those with disabilities.
