Important Public Info Session Wednesday

The County of Simcoe is holding an online public information session Wednesday afternoon regarding the proposed development for the old ODCVI property. There will be 2 one hour sessions, at 2 and 6 p.m.

The county is proposing to build affordable housing and offices for support services for seniors and families. There will be an opportunity to ask question for those who register by email to CountyOrilliaCampus@simcoe.ca to participate.

The county is proposing 130 affordable units, 46 of which will be multi-bedroom for families and the rest 1 bedroom and studio apartments. Services assumed to be occupying space are Ontario Works, Children and Community Services, and Social Housing, and community partners, Victorian Order of Nurses, Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions, EarlyON Child and Family Centre, and a Licensed Child Care Centre.

The footprint of the story building will be 60,000 sq. ft. and cost $79 million to build. Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring and site plans, official plan and zoning amendments have been submitted to the City of Orillia.
