Christmas Market Opens Today

By John Swartz

Vendors, performers, sponsors and volunteers had a sneak peek Thursday evening of this weekend’s inaugural Christmas Market at the central venue, St. James’ Anglican Church. Two dozen vendors with everything from photo printed stone coasters, to cat knick-knacks and paintings, jewellery, food, wood carvings, and even a bicycle helmet with a Travis Shilling paint job were set up and ready to go.

The market hours at St. James’ are Friday noon to 7 p.m.; Saturday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Other downtown merchants are participating and the Arts District galleries have an Art Hop happening as part of the Market festivities. Rumour is, Santa is going to be at St. James’ as well.

For more info about the vendors and a schedule of musical performances visit the Christmas Market website.
