Bumpy Ride Over For Now

The first phase of the Front Street reconstruction project has reached a milestone – it’s paved. While not looking as pretty as when the next layer of asphalt is laid it is smooth and starting Friday Orillia Transit’s South route will return to its normal circuit.

Next construction season phase 2, reconstructing from Colborne Street to Neywash, will happen.

There are still going to be some detours in the downtown core. Bell Canada is doing underground work at the Mississaga/Front intersection with westbound traffic onto Mississaga closed and Front reduced to one lane. The work is expected to be done November 15.

Also, Matchedash Street between Mississaga and Colborne Streets, which was to have been reopened this month, will remain closed until March 20, 2020, reopening just in time to be used as a way around Front Street construction.
