Council Presentations

By John Swartz

Monday night’s regular council meeting began with a couple presentations. The director of Bee City Canada, Shelly Candel, presented Mayor Steve Clarke a certificate designating Orillia as a Bee City. Several local supporters were on hand and Candel had gifts for each member of council.

“I’d like to thank you all for taking on the commitment of becoming a Bee City,” Candel told the mayor and council. Joining her for the presentation was Jeannine Hutty who initiated the effort to have council approve becoming a Bee City.

Next, Dave Beckett presented the City with a pastel painting called, A new Day.

“I donated this to the City because they’ve been so good to me, the City at large,” Beckett said. “I do want the people of Orillia to see this and enjoy it.”
