Going To The Show

By John Swartz

The Mariposa Folk Festival annual audition concert took place Sunday afternoon at the Mariposa Inn. Ten acts performed for a full house with only three would moving on.

Except this year, the judges awarded a tie for one slot, so four acts are going to be coming back in July to play the festival in Tudhope Park.

The four are: the Doozies From Oshawa), the Connors Brothers (From Keswick), Deeps (From Hamilton) and James Gray (from Emsdale, Ontario). Judging by the audience reaction following each set, and chit chat while waiting for the judge’s results, 6 bands tied for the fifth spot.

The July festival is headlined by First Aid Kit, Jason Isbell, Tom Cochrane and Red Rider, and Stars. Recent additions to the lineup include Lee Harvey Osmond (Tom Wilson), Dave Gunning, Jim Bryson, and the Ennis Sisters. Get weekend passes here.
