Lakehead Research and Innovation Week

Lakehead University is showcasing research of faculty and students in a series of seminars this week.

Under the theme Rise of the Machines, the opening ceremonies are at 11 a.m. in the Orsi Learning Commons with Dr. Andrew Dean, v.p. of research and innovation. This is followed by a Story Telling Circle Project session with the Orillia Native Women’s Group.

The Technology of Snowshoes happens in OR1013 at noon and a panel discussion on innovation in education happens at 1:30 p.m. in OA 2014. Dr. Alana Saulnier will speak about Police Use of Bodycams at 7:30 p.m. in OA1033.

Tuesday Dr. Kevin Willson will have a presentation on Fuzzy Logic as a Contributor to the Ethos of Using Machines in OA 2010 at 10:30 a.m. If you missed the Snowshoe presentation it happens again at 1:30 p.m. in OA3041 and again on Wednesday in OR1013 at noon. At 3 p.m. take part in a Science and Sustainability conference in OA2017. Dr., Sandra Jeppesen and the Orillia Native Women’s Group have Storytelling Research Findings at 2:30 p.m. in OA2019. Learn about Using Technology to Fight Human Trafficking with Dr. Natalya Timoshkina at 7 p.m. in the telepresence room.

The week’s keynote speaker is Dan Dunsky. The former executive producer of The Agenda with Steve Paikin will speak about the 6 Laws of Technology at 7 p.m. in OA1033.

On Wednesday Dr. Dan Han will speak about Facilitating Patient Engagement in OA2017 at 10 a.m. Dr. Nasir Uddan has a presentation called Let’s Talk Engineering in the Leaning Commons at 11 a.m.
