CDC Grant Money Available

The Community Development Corporation (CDC) is taking applications for grants from the Community Capacity Building Fund. The fund is meant to help existing non-profit and for-profit organizations expand their activities, rather than help startups.
Examples of how the money is intended to be used would be to aid growth by training staff or buying new equipment which allows offering new service or product.
“Activities should be innovative, incremental, address local needs and priorities and result in long term benefits including job creation, economic diversification, and enhanced business competitiveness,” said development coordinator Carol Benedetti in a press release.
Applicants must be based in Orillia, the surrounding townships, or Rama. Individual grants are for a maximum of $3,000 and there is $20,000 in the grant pool. Application deadline is 4 p.m. Oct. 24 and its recommended applicants speak with someone at the CDC before applying. Those who have applied to this program before are not precluded from applying, but new applications may be given priority. Visit the CDC website for more details.
