Get Out The Vote Rally
Press Release
Residents of Orillia are invited to take part in a non-partisan Get Out to Vote Rally on Saturday, October 17, to encourage voter participation in the upcoming municipal election.
The rally will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Steve Clarke’s mayoral campaign office (83 Mississauga St. W) where participants will gather before heading downtown for a short march to raise awareness about the importance of voting in municipal elections.
The rally is being organized by Steve Clarke’s campaign team and is intended to bring the community together around one shared goal: to encourage eligible voters to participate in the democratic process and have their voices heard.
“During the last three municipal elections, voter turnout has been low, at 33, 38, and 31% respectively. Our goal is to get 40% of eligible voters out during this campaign,” states Clarke. “Municipal elections have a direct impact on the communities we call home, from the services we rely on to the future we want to build together,” said Steve. “Regardless of who you support, participating in our local election is an important way to help shape Orillia’s future. We want to encourage everyone to plan to vote and to remind our neighbours that every voice matters.”
The event is non-partisan, and residents from across Orillia, from downtown to West Ridge, are encouraged to attend. Candidates running for City Council positions are also welcome to participate in support of voter engagement and civic participation. The rally will focus on encouraging eligible residents to make informed decisions and cast their ballots during the advanced polls period or on election day, on October 26th.
