Green Haven and International Women’s Day

March 8 is International Women’s Day and Green Haven Shelter for Women is making a month of it.

On March 7 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. the community is invited to embrace their artistic side and take part in a day of women’s empowerment at the Orillia Museum of Art and History. Central to activities designed to provoke artistic expression is Amanta Scott’s spectacular exhibit of portraits of women who left their mark on the world.

It’s free to participate, but a recommended donation of $5 helps with the costs. For more information contact Green Haven’s Natalie Harris at cdm@ghws.ca.

On March 9 and 110 Scott’s Garden Centre will donate 20% from all sales to Green Haven. The proceeds from the donation will go directly to programs developed to support survivors of abuse and violence in Orillia and the surrounding area. Scott’s is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. both days.
