NDP Candidate Launches Campaign

By John Swartz

The election isn’t until June 2 and the writ to begin the official 28 day election campaign period hasn’t been issued, but Simcoe North NDP candidate Elizabeth Van Houtte is ready to go.

For several weeks she has been assembling her campaign team and Sunday afternoon held a public meet and greet at Creative Nomad Studios.

“We really wanted to get the momentum going. Our formal platform will be released tomorrow, so this is a little bit of a kick off to that,” Van Houtte said.

As promised the NDP platform was released Monday and is online. Van Houtte will also open her campaign office in the City’s south end shortly.

“We will open this week at 575 West Street South, Unit 11B,” she said.

The Liberal Party has nominated Aaron Cayden Hiltz, a Lakehead University law and political science student as their candidate.

Aaron MacDonald of Midland is the Ontario Party’s candidate.

Simcoe North MPP Jill Dunlop is running again and has opened a campaign office in the same plaza as Van Houtte.

The Green Party has nominated former 2021 federal election candidate, Krystal Brooks for this provincial contest.
