Trees, What Do You Think?

The City of Orillia is conducting an online survey about proposed changes to the tree by-law. The survey closes  March 31.

Changes would remove applicability from properties designated by size to include all properties. It would add a requirement to get a permit to remove any tree larger than 10 inches in diameter and impose a permit fee. It would also add a requirement to get an assessment by a certified arborist regarding the health of a tree to be removed. Property owners would be required to plant a new replacement tree on the same property, or pay a fee to the City to plant one somewhere else.

There is a virtual public March 24 at 6 p.m. Orillia residents must register by emailing rcadeau@orillia.ca by noon the day of. Anyone who wants to comment at any time about the proposal can email those to the same address. Comments and survey results will form part of the report to council.
