Pedestrian Mall Continues

The City of Orillia’s economic recovery task force has extended the Friday evening pedestrian mall to September 25. Mississaga Street and the Arts District will be closed to traffic from 4 to 11 p.m.

The decision to continue with the program is based on feedback from retailers and restaurants. The Downtown Orillia Management Board supports the decision.

The program was launched in July and was quickly expanded to include Saturday evenings, but this extension is only for Friday evenings. The inclusion of music and art is included.

Residents are able to provide feedback through two different online surveys. Business owners can complete this one, all others can do this one. The deadline is September 14 and those who take the survey can be entered into a draw for one of two Downtown Dollars prizes of $100.
