Jazz Festival Up And Running

The Orillia Jazz Festival kicked off with a concert by the Danny McErlain Trio in the Studio Theatre at the Opera House Thursday evening. S small but appreciative audience enjoyed different takers of tunes like Georgia, Concierto de Aranjuez and by composers Count Basie, Antônio Carlos Jobim and Michel Legrand.

Friday night the music continues with a concert by stage and jazz bands from the three Orillia high schools at the Geneva Event Centre. Elsewhere, Paul Brooks with Mike Milner are at Eclectic Café – The Jazz Byrds are at Sanafir – Andy Earle and the Bandits are at Brewery Bay – Alex Rabbitson is at the Hog N’ Penny – Linda Carone is at Fionn MacCool’s and Lake Country Grill has Suds Sutherland, Randy Hoover, Will Davis Ian Thurston and Mike Smit playing.
