Know Your Candidate
Orillia for Democracy is hosting a candidate’s forum September 26 at St. Paul’s Centre. It begins at 7 p.m.
The candidates are Chris Brown of the Christian Heritage Party, Gerry Hawes of the Liberal Party, Stephen Makk of the Peoples Party of Canada, Angela Belcourt of the NDP. Incumbent Bruce Stanton of the Conservative Party is invited, but has not committed to the event. At this time there is no Green Party candidate.
Questions posed have been selected and developed by survey then ranked; they have been provided in advance to candidates. The topic areas covered are housing, climate change, healthcare, and student debt. Candidates area able to ask 2 questions directed to another candidate and if time remains the moderator will ask questions specific to healthcare, the economy or environment and will derive from the same process above.
The doors open at 6 p.m. and RogersTV is recording the forum.
