Strings For Students Delivers

By John Swartz

Jimmy Johnston isn’t sure how he got the idea to buy and then donate 15 guitars to the school he went to, Patrick Fogarty Catholic Secondary, but it doesn’t matter. He just wanted to do something to give back to the community.

Wednesday morning he, and Taylor Perkins and Tim Kehoe met at Gilbert Guitars and loaded them into an SUV and brought them to Patrick Fogarty and teacher Dave Pellarin’s guitar class.

The money to buy the guitars was raised in July at a concert at the Geneva Event Centre, where Jimmy’s band, The Doug Trucker Band, along with Taylor’s, Bleeker, and Danny Webster played to a full house, getting the more than $4,000 needed.
