Slippery Ahead

Environment Canada has a weather alert for Orillia and surrounding area. It will start snowing shortly after noon and continue for 24 hours.

The real problem is, at about 5 p.m. the snow will turn to freezing rain, then rain later in the evening. The Weather Network differs a bit, saying the area will be in the clear (as far as precipitation) but overcast until 5 p.m. when freezing rain will start. They also predict less than a centimeter of precipitation each hour through to 1 p.m. Thursday. The forecast is the same through to Toronto, so travel on Highway 400 will be affected.

And, during daylight hours through to Sunday temperatures will be above zero, so be prepared for lots of water and runoff.
