2025 Orillia Terry Fox Run

Press Release

The original Terry Fox Marathon of Hope for cancer research landed at Orillia’s Aqua Theatre 45 years ago, inspiring hundreds of local residents and visitors and generations since to honour his legacy to this day.

The all-volunteer organizing committee is proud to report the 2024 Orillia Terry Fox Run generated $91,259.98 for cancer research with the help of 375 run-day participants, volunteers and teams, along with many very generous memorial tributes. The cumulative total lifted to more than $1.05-million by the time the Terry Fox Foundation’s books closed.

“The Orillia Terry Fox Run remains a constant, beloved and accessible annual event for all ages,” said local volunteer run organizer Alison Stoneman. “It’s also a key contributor to the national pride we feel having helped the Terry Fox Foundation raise nearly $! billion worldwide for amazing progress through cancer research.”

Starting and finishing a 3.2 kilometre loop on Sunday, September 14th at the Celebration Plaza in Tudhope Park, the goal for the 2025 Orillia Terry Fox Run remains one dollar per Orillia resident, which has been surpassed for 16 consecutive years.
