The City of Orillia is exploring opportunities to generate new revenue and enhance public services through the potential commercialization of key municipal properties and wants to hear from Orillia residents and business owners.
Residents are invited to complete an online survey to provide their input on naming rights and commercial activity at public facilities by July 11. Paper copies available at the Orillia Public Library and Orillia City Centre.
At the same time, the City has issued a Request for Expressions of Interest (scroll down) from organizations or businesses interested in either:
- Sponsoring naming rights for select municipal facilities, or
- Leasing space at high-traffic public sites to offer commercial services such as food, recreation, or retail.
Naming Rights opportunities include:
- Orillia Recreation Centre
- Brian Orser Arena
- West Orillia Sports Complex
- Orillia Opera House
- Orillia Waterfront Centre
- Rotary Place Arena
- Orillia Water Tower
Commercial Leasing opportunities include:
- Orillia Recreation Centre (interior and exterior)
- Orillia Waterfront Centre/Centennial Park
- West Orillia Sports Complex
- J.B. Tudhope Memorial Park
- Couchiching Beach Park
- Orillia Public Library (interior and courtyard)
The Request for Expressions of Interest is open until July 7, 2025.
All feedback and expressions of interest received will inform a future report to Council, including potential policy amendments, revenue impacts, and implementation plans for Council’s consideration.
