Green Haven Walk This Way Fundraiser
Press Release
Green Haven Shelter for Women is thrilled to announce its upcoming annual fundraising event, Walk This Way to Open Doors for Women, will be Saturday, October 7 at Couchiching Beach Park. The event aims to raise awareness, show solidarity, and provide vital support to survivors of gender-based violence in our community.
Gender-based violence remains a pervasive issue affecting countless individuals, families, and communities in Orillia and the surrounding area. Walk This Way is an opportunity for community to come together, stand against violence, and support survivors on their journey towards healing and empowerment.
Participants from all walks of life will stand side by side, symbolizing our collective commitment to creating a society free from gender-based violence. By taking part in this walk, attendees will help raise funds to support essential programs and services for survivors, including emergency shelter, basic needs, counselling, systems navigation, child and youth support, and resource sharing.
The event is a 2000-step walk along the water front, with a warm up activity, opportunities to advocate for and empower survivors, enjoy food and drinks, win prizes, and so much more.
Tickets are now on sale for individuals and teams. Children 12 and under can enter the walk for free. To learn more about how to be an event sponsor or a food/drink/prize sponsor, contact Natalie Harris at cdm@ghws.ca.
