Big Brothers Big Sisters Golf Tournament Friday
If you have not made plans yet, but want to golf on Friday, August 26, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orillia & District has their 27th Annual Golf for Kids’ Sake tournament happening at Settlers’ Ghost Golf and it’s not too late to sign up.
It’s an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start including 18 holes, a power cart, lunch, giveaways, prizes, raffles, and more.
Golf for Kids’ Sake has raised over $100,000 for our mentoring programs over the last 11 years. Registrations for Golf for Kids’ Sake are still available and you could one of (or your group of 4) can be part of a field of 120 golfers.
100% of this year’s proceeds will be designated to BBBS in-school and community based programs, with which 300 children are served annually. In order to continue programs, as well as realign with in-person mentoring requirements, BBBS needs as much support as possible.
Never before has there been a more critical need for mentoring. As the pandemic restrictions are scaled back, the lingering effects of the social isolation and stress continue to affect our youth. Following the pandemic, BBBS has experienced an influx of mentees looking to connect with a Big Brother or Sister, to help them cope with the long-term effects of the social isolation. The reduced level of social access during the pandemic has exacerbated the mental and physical health challenges that youth are facing, and these issues will continue to affect them long-term. Thankfully, Bigs work to act as a supportive face to local youth who are trying to regain a sense of normalcy in their lives. Families are relying on BBBS support, and BBBS relies on events like this to ensure not to let them down.
Golfers can register online, or call fundraising and development coordinator Amanda Zummach at 705-325-3151 ext. 227.
