Four New Members Elected to Soldiers’ Board

Ligaya Byrch was re-elected to a second term as chair of the board of directors of Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital. The election happened June 27 held at the Orillia Recreation Centre at AGM and the board’s inaugural meeting was held immediately afterward. Byrch was elected to the board in 2018 and served 3 years as vice-chair before becoming chair in 2022.
“With community growth outpacing expectations, the Board’s top priority over the coming year will be to advance approvals and planning work for a new hospital in Orillia,” said Byrch.
The vice-chair positions on board remain the same with Lawrence Pietras re-elected as 1st vice-chair and Peter Caldwell as 2nd vice-chair.
Four new directors were elected by the corporate membership. They are Kelly Brownbill, Dr. Janice Burrows, Terri McKinnon, and James Williams. Brownbill filled a vacancy midway through last year,. Incumbent directors, Peter Caldwell, Dr. Sheila Clark, and Ryan Spurgeon were re-elected to new terms.
The corporation also took time to salute outgoing directors Leigh Popov (past chair), Mario Benedetto, Ted Markle and Mark Lemieux.
